Booking a cab for an outstation trip is a very different experience from booking a city ride. The distance is longer, the roads change, the vehicle matters more, and the driver's experience becomes critical — especially on hill routes or night drives. Over the years, we've seen what goes wrong when people pick the cheapest option without checking the details, and we've built our service specifically to avoid those situations.

One Way vs Round Trip — Which Should You Book?

This depends entirely on your return plan. If you're flying back, taking a train, or staying put for a while — book a one-way cab. You pay only for the distance you travel, and there's no obligation to use the same cab for the return. If you're coming back by road within a fixed number of days, a round trip package almost always works out cheaper than two separate one-way bookings. Ask us for both quotes and decide from there.

What's Actually Included in the Cab Fare?

This is the question most people forget to ask, and it's where the hidden charges usually come from. At Guruji Travels, we include highway toll charges and fuel in our standard fare. What is charged separately — and we tell you this upfront — is the driver's night halt allowance (if your trip requires an overnight stay) and parking charges at the destination, which are typically small amounts payable on actuals. State entry taxes for certain routes are also an actuals charge. There are no surprise line items when you get the final bill.

How to Pick the Right Vehicle for a Long-Distance Trip

For four people with normal luggage — a Sedan or Ertiga works perfectly well. For five to seven people, especially if you have heavy bags or are heading into the mountains, an Innova Crysta is the smarter choice — it has higher ground clearance, a more powerful engine, and significantly more boot space. For groups of ten or more, a Tempo Traveller is both more economical per person and far more comfortable than splitting across multiple smaller cabs where your group ends up separated for the entire journey.

Booking in Advance vs Last-Minute

In peak travel season — summer holidays, festival weeks, New Year — demand for outstation cabs goes up significantly and prices reflect that. Booking at least 3–5 days in advance gives you better vehicle availability and often better rates. For last-minute bookings, we do our best to arrange a cab, but vehicle options may be limited. If your dates are fixed, booking early is always the better move.

Safety on Long-Distance Trips

All our drivers carry valid commercial licenses and have clean driving records. For trips over 500 km, we prefer assigning drivers who have prior experience on that specific route — not just someone who has driven long distances in general. Our cabs are checked for tyre pressure, engine health, and brakes before every outstation trip. You also receive the driver's name and contact number before your trip starts, so you know exactly who's coming to pick you up.
